Renault Classics - Paris, France

Bonjour,

Hello,
Here we are still at the 2010 Paris Car Show, in front of several Renault.
The first one is Project 118, which was supposed to produce a 'posh' car on the Renault 4 base... This is the proposal from Ghia, but the internal Renault Project won. It gave the Renault 6.
The second car is one of the first limited edition, the Renault 4 Parisienne. There were still some in the streets when I was a kid.
Finally, the third one is a Renault 40CV type NM, a record breaker from 1926. Record breaking was a big marketing argument back then, every constructor had to break some. Renault beat the 24 hour speed record with this car, at an average of 173.6 km/h. The car exhibited here is in fact a replica built in the seventies.
See you soon,

Peugeot 404 Diesel, Records - Paris, France

Bonjour,

Hello,
Here we are still at the 2010 Paris Car Show. This Peugeot 404 has been built on a 404 Convertible base, and has been tranformed into a monoseater. It has been created to prove the toughness and the performance of the Peugeot Diesel engine. This sort of engine had a reputation for trucks and tractors, not cars.
With a 1,948cc engine developing 68 HP (what makes people laugh today for a record breaking car), it got 22 international records under its belt in June 1965 at the Monthlery track. One of them was the 72 hours being covered at an average of 161.49 km/h (5 pilots took turns).
It came back in July 1965 with a 2,163cc engine, with which it beat another 18 world records...
See you soon,

Venturi - Paris, France

Bonjour,

Hello,
Here we are on the Venturi booth, at the Paris 2010 Car Show. In fact, these are 2 different booths, 1 for the first 2 pictures, and 1 for the last picture.

The first car is the Venturi Fetish, an electric sport car available a long time before the Tesla (it is a lot more expensive).

The second car is the Venturi America. It has been developed for the North American market. It is a mix between a sport car and a buggy.

On the third picture, we can see:
- The Venturi 'Jamais Contente' (Never Happy), who holds the landspeed record for an electric vehicle, 515 km/h. It is 11 meter long and 1 m wide, and is good for 800HP. Its name is taken from the car behind, as an homage.
- Indeed, we can see behind the original 'Jamais Contente', the first car to pass the 100 km/h barrier. It was an electric car, named the 'Never Happy' after the wife of the pilot, the Belgian Camille Jenatzy ;-)
- Finally there is the Orange Citroen Berlingo. It is also an electric car developed by Venturi, and it has been driven during 3 months between the Universal Exhibition in Shanghai to Paris, a trip of 14,000 km who ended in July 2010.
See you soon,
