Peugeot 404 Diesel, Records - Paris, France

Bonjour,
A bientot,

Hello,
Here we are still at the 2010 Paris Car Show. This Peugeot 404 has been built on a 404 Convertible base, and has been tranformed into a monoseater. It has been created to prove the toughness and the performance of the Peugeot Diesel engine. This sort of engine had a reputation for trucks and tractors, not cars.
With a 1,948cc engine developing 68 HP (what makes people laugh today for a record breaking car), it got 22 international records under its belt in June 1965 at the Monthlery track. One of them was the 72 hours being covered at an average of 161.49 km/h (5 pilots took turns).
It came back in July 1965 with a 2,163cc engine, with which it beat another 18 world records...
See you soon,
auTHOMobilia.
